Life in the Wadden Sea

Experience Life in the Wadden Sea

Meet the Eiders

At the Wadden Sea Pavilion, you can get up close to the eiders.

The eiders are part of the rich avian life found in the Wadden Sea, and just like the seals, they offer a vivid glimpse into the natural world surrounding the museum. You can often join in when the eiders are being fed and listen to the animal keeper tell you more about the birds, their lives, and their place in the Wadden Sea ecosystem.

Check the daily schedule to see if there will be a feeding of the eiders on the day you visit us.

Learn more about the Wadden Sea

The Wadden Sea is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world's most important natural areas for migratory birds.

In the exhibition “Life in the Wadden Sea,” located next to the seal exhibit, you can explore this unique landscape, where the tides are constantly reshaping the natural environment. Here, you’ll learn more about the Wadden Sea’s food chain and the teeming life that connects algae, bottom-dwelling animals, fish, birds, and seals.

It's a small exhibition about a vast natural world.
