Marine Mammal Response Program
The emergency response team collects information on seals and whales and monitors their health in Denmark.
All information on the recorded marine mammals is compiled in a database managed by the Fisheries and Maritime Museum. Each year, the records are compiled into an emergency response report.
Esbjerg Cutters
The archives of the Fisheries and Maritime Museum contain a wealth of information about Esbjerg’s fishing cutters throughout history. Since the 1880s, there have been several thousand vessels in total that have engaged in fishing with an “E” number painted on their side.
The list at the bottom provides a detailed historical overview for anyone interested in fishing and fishing boats in Esbjerg's history.
Photo Archive of Esbjerg Cutters
Our archive contains thousands of photos of fishing cutters from the long history of Esbjerg’s fishing industry. The best photos of each individual Esbjerg cutter can be viewed online via Google Photos. The many photos are organized into digital folders by the cutters’ port identification numbers, e.g., E.1 through E.50, E.51 through E.100, and so on.
When you click on a photo in the archive of a specific cutter, information about its name, number, and year of construction will appear below the photo. Please note that some cutters were photographed at times when they had a different number than the one listed in the photo’s details.

The Sjæk'len Yearbook
The Fisheries and Maritime Museum’s yearbook, *Sjæk’len*, was published annually from 1988 to 2018. The yearbook features a mix of articles on cultural and natural history in line with the museum’s areas of focus. Much of the knowledge generated over the years through research and exhibitions at the museum has been shared through the yearbook, and external authors have also contributed content to the yearbooks.
The museum's yearbooks since 2002 have been digitized and can be downloaded below.
