There was a time when fleets of blue fishing boats were moored side by side in Danish harbors, and fishing was an industry that played a central role at sea, on the docks, and in the daily life of coastal towns.

In this lecture, museum curator Søren Byskov tells the story of Danish commercial fishing—from the growth and bustling harbors of the 1900s to new vessels, larger catches, stricter regulations, and fewer fishermen at sea.

This lecture will give you insight into an industry in constant flux, where people, technology, and natural resources have always been closely intertwined.
